David Beckham claims he will not be joining Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge should the Milan coach move to Chelsea in the summer.

The former Manchester United midfielder is set to play his final game for the Rossoneri on Sunday after a six-month loan spell before returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy for the second half of the Major League football season, while speculation is rife that Ancelotti is on his way to Stamford Bridge to take charge of the Blues.

But Beckham does not expect to move to Chelsea, telling the Los Angeles Times: “I don’t think that’s a possibility, to be quite honest. At the end of the day, I’m still contracted to the Galaxy.”

He added: “I’ll be coming back July 11 to start training and then to finish the MLS season.

“But it’s always nice to be wanted, and Carlo has been amazing to me since I’ve come to Milan, to play me in as many games as he has. I’m very thankful to him for that.

“I’m excited about (coming back). I’m really looking forward to it.

Owner Mike Ashley and managing director Derek Llambias are keen to come up with a package which will persuade Shearer he will have the tools for the job.

However, until agreement is reached, supporters will have to remain patient in anticipation of what will be a crucial decision for the club’s future.

The club has already started to lay off staff – around 150 employees, many of them part-time, had earlier been informed their jobs were in jeopardy.

Shearer has already provided Ashley – whose Sports Direct International business on Thursday sold its directly-owned stake in JJB Sports for a small profit – with an outline of how he would want to approach the job.

Chelsea News

Chelsea captain John Terry has strongly rejected claims made by former team-mate Claude Makelele that he was in any way responsible for Jose Mourinho’s sacking in September 2007.

Makelele claims, in a new autobiography (‘Claude Makelele – Tout Simplement’) published in France on Saturday, that Mourinho and Terry fell out over playing time as the captain dealt with injury, and that Terry asked for a transfer.

Manchester City

Robinho is unsatisfied at Manchester City and wants to return to Santos where he began his career, according to the president of the Brazilian club.

Marcelo Teixeira said he spoke to Robinho for an hour and a half, during which the player asked about the possibility of returning to Pele’s former club.

“He expressed an interest in this respect, because of his dissatisfaction at the English club,” Teixeira said.

“But, financially, it’s very difficult to compete with the European clubs today.”

Robinho joined Manchester City last September from Real Madrid.

He produced some magical moments and scored 14 goals in the Premiership but also fell foul of manager Mark Hughes in January after leaving the club’s training camp in the Canary Islands and received a club fine.
